Are you thinking of getting married at Hatley Castle?
Hatley castle is a beautiful location for a fairytale wedding, or just wedding photos! Yes, you can book the grounds for a small fee ($100/accurate as of July 2019) and have your wedding photos taken there, even if your wedding ceremony takes place elsewhere.
Last week, I got to spend a afternoon with a wonderful couple who had just gotten married and wanted some photos at the castle! Here are a few of my favourites images. Read on for a little more information about having a wedding at Hatley Castle.
Hatley Castle is located near Victoria, BC. It’s about a 25 to 30 minute drive from downtown from Victoria. If you’re coming from the mainland, it’s about 45 minutes from the Swartz Bay Ferry terminal.
The building was completed in 1908 and is currently part of the Royal Roads University Grounds.
The back of the castle in the Italian garden is where they hold outdoor weddings, but all around is beautifully photogenic with plenty of backdrops for wedding photography.
Besides the Italian Garden there is also a Rose Garden and Japanese Garden to explore… I really felt like I was going back in time. I didn’t know we had these kinds of places here, I thought castles like this were only in Europe!
